Yamas is the new Greek kid on the Europaallee block armed with Mama’s recipes and a selection of Greek wines making you feel like you’re on some far away Greek island and not Zürich.
I don’t remember the last time I was so impressed by a restaurant, where everything was really good – the service, the food, the wine, the atmosphere. It really impressed us.
Tile crushing right here!
We quickly realised that after 7 o’clock the small restaurant fills up, mainly with Greeks, adding to that Greek island feeling.
The evening menu is small but but filled with delicious sounding dishes, leaving us struggling on what to choose.
We opted for what would allow us try the most variety, the Greek meze for two – a culinary journey through the Yamas kitchen. And it did not disappoint.
It’s perfect if like us you’re wanting to try a bit of everything and don’t underestimate how filling it is. Especially when paired with the beauty below:
Feta cheese wrapped in filo pastry. Yup, it’s as good as it sounds. And in my opinion (and I am in no way a wine expert) it paired wonderfully with the sparkling Greek rosé (Akakies Sparkling) we had.
Do me a favour. Even if you’re full or aren’t really a dessert person, have the baklava with vanilla ice cream. It is by far the best baklava I ever had! Plus it’s a great way to end a fantastic meal.
Their lunch menu changes weekly so check it out here before if you’d don’t like surprises. Otherwise I’d just head on over to Yamas and either have lunch in the restaurant or have it for take away (great option for when spring FINALLY decides to arrive…).
For dinner I’d reserve just to make sure you definitely get a spot.
